Transmission Oil Leakage
3 Causes of Transmission Oil Leakage: Risks and XADO Solutions
Oil leakage in transmission parts is often observed in older vehicles that operate intensively at high temperatures. In some cases, oil may also appear at the junction between a mechanical transmission and the engine. Improper functioning of the transmission ventilation system can also cause leakage, which is why checking and cleaning the air breather should be your first step.
3 Causes of Transmission Oil Leakage
- Worn or hardened oil seals: Over time, seals lose elasticity due to heat and wear, becoming loose and ineffective.
- High operating temperatures: Prolonged exposure to heat accelerates seal degradation and increases leakage risk.
- Poor ventilation: A blocked or faulty breather causes pressure build‑up, forcing oil past seals.

By introducing additives into the oil, the tightness of assemblies can be restored. Special plasticisers in XADO products rejuvenate seals, helping them reconnect to surfaces more tightly and reducing leaks.
Atomic Metal Conditioner Maximum Transmission
with 1 Stage Revitalizant® is a second‑generation, two‑component product designed for restoring manual transmission systems. It contains Revitalizant® compound that reduces friction, restores worn metal in gearboxes, transfer cases, and differentials, and prevents future wear by forming a protective coating. It can be used in mechanical, robotised, sequential gearboxes, including Direct Shift systems. One treatment lasts for up to 60,000 miles.
Risks of Ignoring Transmission Oil Leaks
Driving with a leaking transmission is risky. Consequences include:
- Reduced lubrication leading to gear wear
- Overheating due to insufficient oil
- Noise and vibration from damaged bearings
- Costly repairs if the gearbox fails

Application
Add the contents into the oil filler neck of the transmission system, transfer case, or axle gearboxes warmed to operating temperature. Drive for about 5 minutes to dissolve the compound in the oil, then continue driving as usual.
Note
Do not treat completely worn assemblies or parts. The product can be used with any type of oil for mechanical transmissions. Revitalisation completes after approximately 600 miles, so avoid changing oil during this period.
