Squealing belt
Sometimes, during the engine operation, some unusual sounds may be heard. Very often, the problem is connected with auxiliary drive belts. Such squealing sounds of the belt may be caused by its wear or contamination. In the course of time, an old belt shrinks and loses its elasticity, which can cause micro-cracks to clog up with accumulated sediments. The squealing sound appears due to the slip of the belt on the pulley.
The belt has to be at the right tension to function properly. If the belt is too tight it will create extra resistance in the engine. Worn out pulley bearings could cause the belt to stretch or break quickly. Your engine belts make a screech or squeal noise, usually because the rubber belt is slipping on the metal pulley. The belt may be slipping due to improper tension or because it simply has gotten old and the surface has become glazed, cracked or brittle.
Suggestions
If there is a worn belt, it should be replaced. If the belt is contaminated or has lost its elasticity, it is advised to apply VERYLUBE Belt reconditioner to fix the problem. VERYLUBE Belt reconditioner is a spray for taking care of the driving belts of engine assemblies. The product is designed specifically to take care of V-belts and Multiple V-belts of the pump drives of wheel boosters, generators, air conditioners, etc. It effectively cleans surfaces from contamination and restores elasticity of the belts, as well as protects them from cracking and eliminates slipping.
Properties
- Cleans belt work surfaces from contamination and oiling, eliminating slipping
- Restores the structure of belt materials and their tightness
- Prolongs the life span of the belts, reduces wear
- Protects belts from drying and cracking
Application
The application process is quite simple: just shake the can and spray the contents onto the work surface of the belt.
