Increased oil consumption, smoking (blue smoke from the exhaust pipe)

Increased oil consumption may occur in several cases, such as sticking piston rings, wear of the cylinder-piston group or pollution of the crankcase ventilation system.

Possible reasons / Suggestions

  1. Usually, stuck rings (coked oil in piston ring grooves) may occur due to engine overheating. But also, sticking may appear during regular operation if the engine has been operating with low-quality fuel or oil for a long period of time. Due to carbon sediments building up in the grooves, the decrease in mobility of piston rings appears, which causes damage to the seal in thу cylinder-piston group, thus letting oil out. The rings should be decarbonised. Special products, decarbonizers, contain substances that dissolve and soften high-temperature lacquer sediments, which are then removed from the cylinder-piston group.

Here are XADO products that will help to decarbonise and restore machinery:

  2. Increased oil consumption can also be explained by wear in the friction pair ‘cylinder wall to piston ring’, which leads to malfunction of the seal of the cylinder-piston group. The wear can be eliminated with the help of Revitalizant product, which restores wear in the cylinder-piston group, optimises clearances and, as a result, normalises the oil consumption.

Here are XADO products that will help deal with the problem:

  3. Another reason for increased oil consumption is a polluted crankcase ventilation system. If the crankcase ventilation system does not function properly the pressure in the crankcase increases, which leads to increased oil consumption. In this case, the system needs to be cleaned either mechanically by disassembling the engine or by applying car care products, which will enhance the washing properties of the engine oil. It is recommended to use VitaFlush - oil system cleaner (120 – 160 miles of run) in order to decrease oil consumption.

Anticarbon engine cleaner is a fast-acting product designed to remove carbon contamination and restore stuck piston rings of gasoline and diesel engines. It removes all scale and tar contaminations from the parts surfaces of cylinder-piston group. It does not require an oil change after application.

Properties

  1. Restores the mobility of stuck piston rings
  2. Reduces oil consumption
  3. Cleans cylinders and pistons, combustion chambers and valves from any kind of contamination (scale, carbon, varnish, tar
  4. Equalizers compression in cylinders
  5. Decreases noise while the engine is operating
  6. Removes deposits from spark-plugs
  7. Reduces the exhaust level in the atmosphere

Application

  1. Warm up the engine. It should be warm but not hot
  2. Unscrew the spark plugs. Disconnect the ignition timing sensor, the Hall device and the commutator
  3. Spray the content (for 5 sec) into each cylinder alternately through a nozzle hose. Screw the plugs back in. Wait for 10-20 minutes. Unscrew the plugs. Cover the plug holes with absorbing fabric to avoid dirt flying out and getting onto the paint. Rotate the engine with the starter for several seconds
  4. Place the spark plugs in their position
  5. Start the engine and run it at moderate RPM for up to 15 minutes. During this period, softened remains of carbon will be removed through the exhaust system.

Note

  1. Avoid getting the substance onto lacquer coatings!
  2. Safe for catalyst converters, oxygen sensors, mechanical rubber parts and sealings.
